APRIL 2020 - OMO WASHING POWDER PRINT ADVERT
The next task during lockdown was to go through the OMO slides and complete the activities.
Key Points:
1. Women's roles were stereotyped - but it is not as simple as saying 'in the old days women stayed home - the 1950s came shortly after the 2nd world war where many women had gone to do 'mens' jobs.
2. The advert uses stereotypes to have mass appeal and to create a fear of missing out from those who don't have this product.
3. Advertising in the UK nowadays is not allowed to use blatant stereotypes because of the ASA - in particular, the rule changes in 2019.
