We began to look at the introduction of Radio 1 to the public, in 1967. Key Points: 1. Radio 1 was set up to try to stop people listening to pirate radio stations. 2. Tony Blackburn was recruited from popular pirate radio station Radio Caroline as head DJ. 3. We compare historical radio transmission to online radio in the present day - in particular, Julie Adenuga's Apple Beats show.
